Recently, our group has developed an epigenetic model identified through epigenomic analysis by which the DNA methylation status of four genes (BCAT1, CDO1, TRIM58, and ZNF177) in BAS/BAL/sputum samples was able to discriminate between NSCLC patients (even at early stages) and controls (82% sensitivity and 76% specificity, AUC, ~0.9) [55,58]. This evidence concerns the gene CDO1 and non-small cell lung carcinoma.
