Similarly, Donate-Correa et al. [33], in a study designed to detect differences in FGF23 levels according to the presence of atherosclerosis or vascular calcification in 133 patients with cardiovascular disease (mean eGFR: 78.8 ± 24 mL/min/1.73 m2), reported a higher prevalence of patients with diabetes in the higher tertiles of circulating FGF23 levels, both for iFGF23 and cFGF23 determinations (p < 0.01, for both).
