HMGB1 and Anorexia: A role for HMGB1, at least the disulfide form [6], in mediating LPS-induced sickness responses has been suggested following the observation that intracerebroventricular (icv) injections of HMGB1 induced typical symptoms of sickness including anorexia, taste aversion and fever and systemic neutralization of HMGB1 inhibited LPS-induced anorexia, suggesting its role in LPS-induced sickness responses [31,32].
