ClpP silencing in these cells induces an increase of misfolded subunits of mitochondrial respiratory complex II but not of complexes I, III, IV or V. The knockdown of ClpX or ClpP in prostate cancer cell significantly reduced complex II activity and overall ATP production and increase glucose consumption and lactate production, suggesting a compensatory increase in glycolysis. The gene discussed is CLPP; the disease is Familial prostate cancer.
