In female subjects with MDD, the levels of IL-1β (MDD, 0.5555 ± 0.3033 pg/mL, vs. female HC, 0.3455 ± 0.2777 pg/mL, p = 0.0355, Figure 2A), IL-6 (MDD, 1.064 ± 0.5719 pg/mL, vs. female HC, 0.7237 ± 0.3694 pg/mL, p = 0.0355, Figure 2B), and CRP (MDD, 790.8 ± 632.4 ng/mL, vs. female HC, 415.2 ± 361.5 ng/mL, p = 0.0497, Figure 2C) significantly increased in the serum compared with those in the female HC group, but not in the male group. This evidence concerns the gene CRP and major depressive disorder.
