Given the large number of lncRNAs found to be deregulated in HBV-related HCC patients, we will describe below only lncRNAs for which the epigenetic mechanism of action has been investigated and focus on lncRNAs that have been directly correlated to HBV infection (HEIH, HOTAIR, TUC338, HOTTIP, DLEU2, MVIH, PVT1, ANRIL) or HBx expression (UCA1, LINC00152, MALAT1) and have been shown to affect HBV infection or promote hepatocarcinogenesis or both. The gene discussed is DLEU2; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
