Several studies have demonstrated that inhibition of the IL6R/STAT3 pathway with anti-IL6, IL6R antagonists, or JAK-inhibitors induced apoptosis of human myeloma cell lines in vitro and enhanced the antitumor activity of other anti-myeloma drugs in vivo, attenuating chemoresistance [84,85,86,87]. The gene discussed is IL6; the disease is plasma cell myeloma.
