Our observations contrast with a report by Hamilla et al. who described a VE-cadherin independent incorporation of human MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells; no endothelial VE-cadherin was observed at the contacts between HUVEC and incorporated MDA-MB-231 breast cancer cells, where the incorporation was associated with the dislocation of the VE-cadherin mediated cell-cell contacts between the endothelial cells [28]. This evidence concerns the gene CDH5 and breast carcinoma.
