Comparing the values of TAC and the antioxidant enzymes of saliva—CAT and GPX in subjects with and without gingivitis— the Mann–Whitney test showed statistically significantly higher values of TAC (p < 0.001) and CAT activity (p < 0.001) in the group of subjects without gingivitis, when compared to the study group with gingivitis (Table 3). This evidence concerns the gene CAT and gingivitis.
