Interestingly, a higher abundance of type IV collagen deposits (patients with staining scores 2 or 3 [43% of asthma subjects]) was associated with lower α4 subunit expression on blood (but not BAL) CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells (median 1.3-fold decrease in MFI for both, p = 0.007 and p = 0.02, respectively). Here, CD8A is linked to asthma.
