In subsequent studies [32,33], it has been shown that apolipoprotein-enriched coronas can promote association of nanoparticles to specific lipoprotein receptors, i.e., low-density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) and scavenger receptor class B, type I (SRB1) that are (over)expressed in several conditions (e.g., renal cell carcinoma, hepatocellular carcinoma, lymphoma, melanoma, etc.). This evidence concerns the gene SCARB1 and renal cell carcinoma.
