Since EIF4A3 was not a TP53-dependent re-splicing repressor, there could be another unidentified regulator of mRNA re-splicing, which is under the control of the tumor suppressor gene TP53. All these repressors of mRNA re-splicing, together with conceivable cancer-specific re-splicing activators, should be comprehensively investigated to elucidate the cause of mRNA re-splicing frequently observed in various cancer cells/tissues (Figure S4). The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is cancer.
