Clearly, CPSF6 contributes to HIV-1 integration targeting to gene-dense and active chromatin regions, such as nuclear speckles; however, the functional significance of such a targeting has been rather difficult to prove, not least because HIV-1 infection does not seem to be greatly affected by either depletion of CPSF6 or by mutations in CA that abrogate binding to it [147]. The gene discussed is CPSF6; the disease is HIV-1 infection.
