MYC (or c-myc) is a transcription factor that regulates cell growth, division, differentiation, and death, and despite having a classic role in brain cancer progression and brain development, MYC expression is increased in neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer’s disease, and like CCND1, its role is based on cell cycle control [47]. The gene discussed is CCND1; the disease is early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
