APOE and Alzheimer disease: A deoxythymidine homopolymer (poly-T) at rs10524523 within intron 6 of the TOMM40 has been associated with the risk and age at onset of AD [20,21,22,23]; and the “VL” variant of this poly-T marker has been associated with increased mRNA expression of both TOMM40 and APOE in APOE ε3/ε3 brain [24].
