While 2-AG is less studied in the context of PTSD symptomology, decreased levels of 2-AG in the hippocampus were also found to be related to PTSD symptoms such as anxiety, depression and memory disruption [8,63]; curiously, this was found to correlate with a reduced density of the target receptor for 2-AG (CB1) [64]. This evidence concerns the gene CNR1 and major depressive disorder.
