In this context, the data presented here demonstrates the following: (i) mutant p53 protein can be selectively exported via EVs; (ii) mutant p53 in EVs can be taken up by neighboring cells in culture; finally (iii) mutant p53 expression is found in non-tumor cells in both human cancers and in non-human tissues in human xenografts.
