The study confirmed that treatment with an mTOR inhibitor plus trastuzumab and vinorelbine restored the trastuzumab sensitivity of trastuzumab-resistant advanced breast cancer and significantly prolonged progression-free survival compared to the survival of patients treated with placebo plus trastuzumab and vinorelbine; however, the toxicity profile precluded the adoption of this combination [31]. This evidence concerns the gene MTOR and breast cancer.
