TGFB1 and oral cavity squamous cell carcinoma: In oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) [37], miR-145 levels are elevated in CAFs, compared with NFs, and miR-145 targets multiple components of the TGF-β signaling pathway, and acts in the miRNA-145/TGF-β1 negative feedback loop to dampen the acquisition of myofibroblast traits and suppresses biomarkers of myofibroblast activation, suggesting that miR-145 up-regulation may serve to limit myofibroblast differentiation.
