Galectin-1 is involved in the resistance to radiotherapy or chemotherapy in several types of cancer including squamous cell carcinoma of the uterine cervix [18], hepatocellular carcinoma [19], glioblastoma [20,21], epithelial ovarian cancer [22] and lung carcinoma [23,24]. The gene discussed is LGALS1; the disease is cervical squamous cell carcinoma.
