A soluble derivative of the cellular HCMV receptor PDGFRα, the chimeric molecule PDGFRα-Fc in which the complete extracellular domain of the receptor is fused to the Fc part of human immunoglobulin G, can inhibit viral entry and may represent a novel antiviral approach for treatment and prophylaxis of HCMV infections [9,12,19]. This evidence concerns the gene PDGFRA and cytomegalovirus infection.
