Clearly, even in S-CRC, multicentre prospective studies with larger cohorts are required to validate these findings; whereby the correlation of cfDNA levels to the already established serum inflammatory markers (CRP, ESR, neutrophil counts) and to disease activity (using more commonly used scores such as Mayo, UCEIS, Nancy) already currently used in clinical practice can be measured. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is colorectal carcinoma.
