Stroke-related Tat-induced neuroprotection has been demonstrated and exploited in pre-clinical studies and a recently concluded Phase III clinical trial on nerinetide, an eicosapeptide neuroprotectant that interferes with PSD-95 in human ischemia-reperfusion and occurs with rapid endovascular thrombectomy in AIS patients (ClinicalTrials.gov Identifier: NCT02930018, [101]). This evidence concerns the gene TAT and androgen insensitivity syndrome.
