Representing a complex and heterogenous type of cancer, BC is characterized by multiple genetic alterations (the prominent being the inherited alterations in the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes, which accounts for 5 to 10% of female BC and 15 to 20% of familial BC), which are used as its diagnostic and prognostic markers [13,14]. The gene discussed is BRCA2; the disease is cancer.
