Several types of NLRs (NLRP1, NLRP2, NLRP3, NLRP6, NLRP12, etc.)are found to be associated with systemic diseases [1]—out of which, NLRP3 and CARD8 inflammasome have been implicated in the pathogenesis of several inflammatory diseases like atherosclerosis, Crohn’s disease, gout, and periodontal disease [1]. This evidence concerns the gene NLRP1 and Crohn disease.
