In mice livers, PINK1-mediated mitophagy was shown to have a protective role against non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) by clearing damaged mitochondria and allowing cyanidin-3-O-glucoside (C3G) to suppress oxidative stress, NLRP3 inflammasome activation and improving glucose metabolism [62]. Here, NLRP3 is linked to metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
