Recent large placebo-controlled trials of sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitors (empagliflozin, canagliflozin, and dapagliflozin) in type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) patients observed for approximately 3 to 4 years and other prospective studies of SGLT2 inhibitors in T2DM patients revealed desirable effects of SGLT2 inhibitors [1-9]. This evidence concerns the gene SLC5A2 and diabetes mellitus.
