KDM1A and neoplasm: In animal cells, human lysine-specific histone demethylase1 (LSD1), also known as lysine-specific demethylase 1A (KDM1A), removes mono- and di-methyl groups from the lysine residues of histone H3, specifically H3K4 and H3K9, and participates in various biological processes, e.g., cell proliferation and tumor development (Shi et al., 2004; Chen et al., 2012).
