Ferritin below 30 ng/ml was detected in 377 patients (72%) [median value 8 ng/ml (IQR 8, 7–17)] whereas ferritin above 30 ng/ml and below 100 ng/ml with CRP above 1 mg/dl was measured in 61 patients (11.7%) [median value 55.2 ng/ml (IQR 28.5, 41–69.5)] which is, according to the ECCO guidelines, compatible with Iron Deficiency Anemia (IDA).
