After adjustment for all confounders, the odds of admission due to HF for those with an NT-proBNP value of >2000 pg/mL were more than twofold higher (OR 2.26 95% CI 1.98 to 2.59) than for those with NT-proBNP between 400 and 2000 pg/mL whereas a low NT-proBNP level <400 pg/mL was associated with a 29% lower risk (OR 0.71 95% CI 0.61 to 0.84) of HF-related hospitalisation (online supplemental table S11). This evidence concerns the gene NPPB and hydrops fetalis.
