Starting from the clinical use of antisense oligonucleotides directed against Bcl-2, and passing through BH3 mimetics that showed severe on-target toxicity, recent FDA approval of the BH3 mimetic Venetoclax validated the clinical relevance of using Bcl-2 anti-apoptotic members as therapeutic targets, not only for hematologic malignancies but also for breast carcinoma (D’Aguanno and Del Bufalo, 2020). This evidence concerns the gene BCL2 and hematologic disorder.
