LRP6 and type 2 diabetes mellitus: An intron polymorphism of β‐catenin cofactor TCF7L2 is related to increased risk of type II diabetes (T2DM).[6] Gene polymorphisms of Wnt coreceptor LRP6 are also associated with T2DM,[7] hyperlipidemia;[8] atherosclerosis,[9] and even LOAD.[10] These findings suggest that defective Wnt signaling in the brain may play an important link between altered fuel metabolism and early LOAD pathogenesis.
