Zhao (2020) suggested that the sarilumab antibody could inhibit the production of a cytokine IL-6 in the patients with COVID-19 pneumonia. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled, phase three trial of sarilumab in patients admitted to Hospital with severe or critical COVID-19 was studied. Their result shows that the sarilumab efficacy is poor in patients admitted to Hospital with COVID-19 and receiving supplemental oxygen (Lescure et al., 2021). This evidence concerns the gene IL6 and COVID-19.
