Also, in another prospective cohort study, GDF-15 levels in blood samples collected and stored 14–18 years before GDF-15 measurements, had a strong predictive ability of worse outcome after cardiovascular and non-cardiovascular diseases, supporting that GDF-15 levels measured in samples stored for a long time are stable over time and could still be related to disease outcome after many years (38). Here, GDF15 is linked to cardiovascular disorder.
