sFlt-1 is a well-recognized feature of preeclampsia, in which its dramatic rise causes a significant reduction of free circulating PlGF levels.10 Although a decrease in placental PlGF production has also been suggested to contribute to the low PlGF levels in preeclamptic disease,21,22 we observed no differences in total PlGF when comparing women without preeclampsia, preeclampsia, or HELLP syndrome in the current study. The gene discussed is PGF; the disease is HELLP syndrome.
