Patients classified as high XCTA expressors had significantly worse overall survival (HR = 1.64) in the TCGA-LIHC HCC cohort compared to low XCTA expressors and were associated with significantly higher levels of AFP, a poor prognostic factor in HCC (p = 0.015 and 0.025, respectively, Fig 3A and 3B). The gene discussed is AFP; the disease is hepatocellular carcinoma.
