Inoculation of INA-6 cells [interleukin 6 (IL-6)–dependent human MM cell line] into SCID-hu mice resulted in tumor engraftment and burden in the implanted bone with an increase in soluble human IL-6 receptor (shuIL6R) and human IL-6 in this mouse (Tassone et al., 2005).
