Based on these criteria, we selected five FDA approved drugs that target the TF hubs (carvedilol–HIF1A, dexamethasone–NR3C1, dimethyl fumarate–RELA, glycyrrhizic acid–NFKB1/2, and sulfasalazine–NF-κB) and one clinical drug (T5224–FOS/JUN), and investigated their ability to downregulate several key cytokines implicated in the COVID-19 CRS (CCL2, CXCL8, and IL6). This evidence concerns the gene NR3C1 and congenital rubella syndrome.
