As illustrated in Figure 5, the associated miRNAs target several associated genes, which are involved in a number of signaling pathways (namely HGMB1, p38MAPK, PTEN, and PI3K/AKT, ERS and UPR) specifically involved in the modulation of immune response, neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration reported in PD (Jha et al., 2015; Angelopoulou et al., 2018; Joe et al., 2018; Liu et al., 2019; Martinez et al., 2019). This evidence concerns the gene PTEN and Parkinson disease.
