Diabetes mellitus is a chronic and systemic inflammatory disease characterized by hyperglycemia, which mainly includes three types: type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) with insufficient insulin secretion, type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) with insulin resistance, and gestational diabetes mellitus with raised blood glucose during pregnancy (Menini et al., 2020).
