Guan et al. (2019) found that the natural product carvacrol could inhibit ferroptosis by increasing the expression of GPX4, thereby exerting its protective effects on cognitive dysfunction in gerbils exposed to ischemia/reperfusion, but the blood brain permeability of carvacrol has not been examined. Additionally, Alim et al. (2019) created a Tat-linked SelP Peptide, which could greatly reduce the cerebral infarct volume caused by ischemia/reperfusion in mice. This evidence concerns the gene GPX4 and ischemia.
