However, in contrast to fibrin-associated diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, our patient presented a profound immunosuppression with a disseminated disease, an EBV-associated HPS and an aggressive clinical course, suggesting that viral oncogenic mechanisms, including latent protein expression (such as LMP1), were determinant for the pathogenesis and clinical course of the disease.
