Of the five annotated MELTF-AS1 isoforms (Vega Genome Browser), the longest isoform was markedly more abundant than others in multiple cancer cell lines, including A549 and H1299 LUAD, NCI-H226 lung squamous cell carcinoma (LUSC), HCT116 colon adenocarcinoma (COAD), MCF-7 BRCA and Eca109 esophageal squamous cell carcinoma (ESCC), as shown in RT-PCR analysis with isoform targeting primers including those recognise a region spanning across exon 2 and 3 (Supplementary Fig. 1e, f). The gene discussed is MELTF-AS1; the disease is esophageal squamous cell carcinoma.
