GPX4 and cancer: Their findings suggest that DHODH and mitochondrial GPX4 are two key metabolic enzymes that function to detoxify lipid peroxides that accumulate in the mitochondria.1 Thus, inhibiting both DHODH and GPX4 promotes ferroptosis by increasing lipid peroxidation in the mitochondria, providing a promising strategy for targeting mitochondrial DHODH and GPX4 in cancer cells.
