Matsuo et al. [5] compared male gout patients and healthy people in Japan and found two ABCG2 alleles, Q141K (50% functional residue) and Q126X (without function), with 76.2% of people with gout having ABCG2 dysfunction, and severe ABCG2 dysfunction significantly increased the risk of early-onset gout (RR = 22.2). This evidence concerns the gene ABCG2 and gout.
