A recent study that first explored the pathophysiological nature of the common ABCG2 variant Q141K in gout and hyperuricemia revealed that only a male mouse model of the orthologous Q140K Abcg2 variant had significant hyperuricemia and metabolic alterations with subtle alterations in renal urate excretion and ABCG2 abundance. Here, ABCG2 is linked to hyperuricemia.
