Monitoring serum SELENBP1 concentrations could assist clinicians in the initial assessment of patients after TSCI, especially in estimating the remission potential of severely injured patients classified as AIS A. Our results support the notion that SELENBP1 constitutes a promising marker for identifying and assessing cell damage and injury, and this potential should be investigated further in the context of other traumatic or degenerative diseases. Here, SELENBP1 is linked to neurodegenerative disease.
