POSTN and Hypertension: To date, no studies have been published investigating the relationship between periostin and hypertension, although a recent study has shown that serum periostin levels are low in diabetic patients.17 Nevertheless, it has been suggested that higher NLRs may be a predictive biomarker for diabetes mellitus,18 and recent studies have shown that the NLR is higher in hypertensive patients than in the normal population.19 Our study showed no statistically significant correlation between accompanying diseases and existing biomarkers.
