CALR and neoplasm: Several DAMPs have been observed and evaluated in the context of tumor ablation, including the endoplasmic reticulum associated protein calreticulin (CRT), the non-histone nuclear binding protein HMGB1, the intracellular energy molecule adenosine 5’-triphosphate (ATP), and various heat shock proteins (HSP) that were originally identified as DAMPs released after exposure to elevated temperatures (124–128).
