Genes encoding TLR4, NLRP3, and IL-6R in the thrombi were increasingly expressed with increased myocardial injury measured by troponin T. In circulating leukocytes genes encoding TLR4, NLRP3, and IL-1β associated significantly with troponin T. These results support the strategy of medically targeting this pathway in treating myocardial infarction and contribute to sort out optimal timing and targets for anti-inflammatory treatment. The gene discussed is IL1B; the disease is myocardial infarction.
