Differentially expressed genes were primarily inflammatory- or lipid-associated and were almost universally downregulated in T2D individuals relative to healthy individuals, with the exception of GTSCR1 (Gilles de la Tourette syndrome chromosome region, candidate 1), a non-coding RNA gene that was upregulated in T2D neutrophils. The gene discussed is GTSCR1; the disease is type 2 diabetes mellitus.
